Movement tales
Movement tales is a new initiative to promote Dance and Movement within educational settings. I believe that play, creativity and imagination is fundamental to learning. As a Qualified teacher, I have unfortunately witnessed over the years a decline in the focus of movement and play within learning in both Primary and Secondary schools, therefore my aim is to bring a love for these back into the classroom. During Movement Tales sessions children have the opportunity to imagine, explore and develop new learning through movement and play. Sessions and schemes of work can be bespoke and can correspond with The National Curriculum and themes within the classroom.
Children feel music in ways it seems some of us adults have forgotten. They use their bodies to express emotion and explore the ways their bodies can move. Movement Tales is an advocate for learning through Movement and Dance. Through movement and creative play, children develop gross and fine motor skills, coordination, and control. They have an opportunity to build and practice these skills and it helps to set the stage to improve hand eye coordination and muscle memory. It can also aid social development as movement can often be a fantastic tool to practice working with others to develop communication and social interaction skills.
