Personal trainer forms can help you communicate with your clients. There are different forms you can use within your business, each of which will fulfil a different purpose.

To understand the full scope of this topic, our article will look at the following forms:

Table of Contents

Before we start, did you know you can enhance your PT services with a Level 4 Nutrition qualification? Once qualified you’ll be able to increase your earning potential, offering nutrition coaching and tailored meal plans that support your clients’ fitness goals.

What Are Personal Trainer Forms?

image10-minpersonal trainer forms

Personal trainer forms are documents you can use to fulfil a variety of purposes, such as conducting client consultations, receiving feedback on your performance, and getting a client’s consent (to name a few).

These versatile documents will play a crucial role in your professional career. You must understand what to include in these sheets, and what situations to use them in.

For reference, you may not need every personal training form featured in this article. We’re simply covering a wide scope, to highlight instances which may occur during your career.

Let’s take a deeper look at the different types of forms you may need to create a personalised and professional experience for your clients.

15 Personal Trainer Forms

Personal Training Forms For Prospective Clients

image14-minpersonal trainer forms

The forms in this section are for prospective clients to complete before they commit to your PT services.

They gather valuable information to help identify potential clients and gain insight into their fitness goals, which can then be used to create tailored programmes that meet their specific needs.

#1 Application / Enquiry Form

An application form for a personal trainer is usually given to prospective clients during their onboarding process. It gathers key information and allows you to contact these individuals to assess what they want to get out of a training programme.

The form normally asks a prospective client to provide the following information:

  • Personal Information: Name, email, phone number
  • Preferred type of training: Online, in-person, or hybrid
  • Fitness Goals: Weight loss, muscle gain, general fitness
  • Experience Level: Beginner, intermediate, advanced
  • Availability: Preferred training days and times
  • Health History: Lists their medical conditions or injuries

Below, we’ve included an example personal training application form from esign.com. You can use this template for yourself, or use the information included to create your own design.

image29-min-personal trainer forms

Application forms for personal trainers can keep the prospective client’s vital information in one place, rather than having to swipe through DMs or emails. Once collected, you could even have a printed and digital copy for your personal records.

These forms are important for filtering serious leads to your business and to help you determine whether you should take them on.

You can present these forms on your personal training website to generate the most enquiries. For example, you could have a section labelled ‘Work with Me’ that would direct your clients to fill out the enquiry form.

#2 Consultation Forms

Once you’ve decided to onboard a client, you’ll need to conduct a consultation. This will give you the chance to get to know your clients personally, discuss what they want to accomplish from their training and explain how your programme can help them reach their goals.

A personal training consultation form helps to compile vital information, using metrics that will help you to decide what to include in clients’ workout programmes.

This typically includes includes:

  • Personal Details: To make sure their information is up to date
  • Body Metrics: Weight, height, body fat percentage
  • Fitness Experience: Beginner, intermediate, advanced
  • Medical History: Injuries, illnesses, medications
  • Lifestyle Factors: Activity, sleeping patterns, and stress levels
  • Training Goals: Strength, endurance, or weight loss
  • Availability & Preferences: Preferred training schedule and location

This example personal training consultation form from Care Patron, provides insight into how you could format this:

image22-min-personal trainer forms

After a client completes this form you can use the information to help shape their workout programme. For example, if the findings reveal their daily activity is low and their primary goal is to gain muscle mass you can focus on incorporating more strength training into their workouts.

For a more in-depth look at this topic, be sure to check out our article on ‘Personal Training Consultations’.

Personal Trainer New Client Forms

Personal trainer new client forms are essential once you’ve signed someone up. They help to gather important contact details, outline any precautions, and set the foundation for the working relationship ahead.

#3 Disclaimer Form / Waiver

A personal training waiver form helps to provide you with some legal protection, informing clients of any potential risks associated with training.

For example, this can help to limit your liability in the event a client is injured during training. To ensure you’re protected, a disclaimer/waiver form will usually include:

  • Acknowledgement of Risks: Clients confirm they understand and accept the inherent risks associated with exercise activities
  • Liability Waiver: Clients release the trainer from liability for injuries caused by their own negligence during sessions, except in cases of gross negligence, recklessness, or intentional misconduct.
  • Health & Fitness Disclosure: Clients confirm they have disclosed any medical conditions or injuries to you.
  • Client Responsibility: Clients agree to follow your instructions and maintain proper form during exercises to help keep them safe.

This example waiver and release form from Courage to Sweat is one way you could present this information:

image3-minpersonal trainer forms

Courage to Sweat’s personal trainer waiver form outlines the potential risks and ensures they are boldly labelled for clients to clearly see and understand.

By signing, clients acknowledge these risks and agree to take personal responsibility for their health and well-being during training.

However, keep in mind this does not mean you can act negligently as a trainer. You should always strive to provide clients with a safe working environment and guide them through their programme to the best of your abilities.

#4 Physical Activity Readiness Questionnaire (PAR-Q)

PAR-Q forms in personal training are essential for assessing whether clients are physically capable of engaging with their workout programme and will help to identify any potential health risks or limitations.

The form typically asks about clients’:

  • Health History: Past injuries, illnesses, surgeries
  • Current Health Conditions: Heart disease, diabetes, or other chronic conditions
  • Physical Activity Level: Current exercise habits and fitness levels
  • Exercise Goals: Weight loss, muscle building, or general fitness
  • Consent & Acknowledgment: Agreement to disclose health information and notify of any changes

PAR-Q forms for personal trainers can also help you determine whether a client needs to be referred to a specialist for training, rather than working with a PT.
In addition, it can also offer legal protection, covering you from any potential liability that a client’s pre-existing condition was the result of your training.

How to set out a PAR-Q personal training form is demonstrated below by Alameda Country:

image18-minpersonal trainer forms

Our article ‘What is a PAR-Q?’ looks at the complexities of this form in greater detail, providing insight into its importance to your business and what you can include in one.

#5 Emergency Contact Form

An emergency contact form is fairly self-explanatory, many of you will have filled out one yourself in some capacity.

Your client will share who they want you to contact in the event of an emergency. This form typically includes:

  • Emergency Contact Name: Full name of the designated person
  • Relationship: Client relationship with the contacts
  • Contact Information: Phone number, address, and email address

If you’re looking for a way to design an emergency contact form that is easy for your clients to complete, then you can take inspiration from Survey Monkey’s:

image11-minpersonal trainer forms

The form helps collect clients’ details, emergency contact information, and details about a client’s health condition.

It also enables you to access critical client information during health crises, ensuring prompt and appropriate action is taken to work with emergency services and contact their next of kin.

#6Consent Form

A personal trainer consent form ensures that clients are aware of the risks involved in training and voluntarily agree to participate.

The form normally includes a:

  • Risk Acknowledgment: The client understands the risks of exercises included in their workout programme e.g. strength training involves working with specific gym equipment
  • Voluntary Participation: A client is agreeing to train of their own accord
  • Understanding Responsibilities: A client must understand what is expected of them during the training programme. You can also cover what you will be doing for them – e.g. providing instruction and support
  • Liability Waiver: Explains your limited liability for injuries caused during training

You’ll need to make sure the wording you include in this document is clear and precise. For further insight and explanation, check out our article on Informed Consent for Personal Training.

If you’d like a direct example of how to phrase a personal training consent form, take a look at this example from Exercise for Medicine:

image17-minpersonal trainer forms

Their consent form outlines the processes and expectations for participants in their training programme. For example they are expected to:

  • Follow their personalised exercise plan
  • Attend every scheduled training session
  • Inform their PT of any medical conditions that can impact your training
  • Report feelings of fatigue, shortness of breath and chest discomfort during exercise

In return, a client’s personal trainer will tailor sessions that reflect their capabilities and fitness goals and provide regular health checks to make sure they are fit enough to do so:

image5-minpersonal trainer forms

By signing this consent form, clients acknowledge the associated risks and agree that the trainer’s liability is limited in the event of injury.

#7 Cancellation Policies

A cancellation policy form sets clear guidelines for how clients can cancel or reschedule sessions, protecting your time and income.
Cancellation policies tend to include:

  • Cancellation Notice Period: Typically Personal Trainers will require 24 hours notice.
  • Method of Cancellation: Phone, email, or text etc.
  • Late Cancellation Fees: The price clients must pay for late cancellations.
  • Rescheduling Guidelines: Conditions under which a session can be rescheduled.
  • Holiday or Extended Absence Notices: When clients must notify of advanced long-term absences e.g. trips.
  • Late Arrival Procedure: Explains how clients can contact you in this event and what will happen following this e.g. will they only get the remaining time for that given session?

At Home Be Fit, presented their cancellation policy in paragraph form so the information is clear and easy to understand:

image25-personal trainer forms

Their cancellation policy stipulates that 24 hours notice is required to avoid any cancellation charges. Clients who cancel with this level of notice also have to reschedule within 7 days.

Clients have a one-time cancellation waiver with any further cancellations made within 24 hours will result in them being charged the full cost of a session.

With a clear cancellation policy, you can maintain high levels of professionalism, minimise disruption, and protect your time and earnings. Learn ‘How to Write An Effective Cancellation Policy’ with our full guide.

#8 Payment Arrangement Form

A payment arrangement form outlines the financial terms and conditions of the client’s workout programme.

It normally includes the following sections:

  • Trainer and Client Information: Names, contact details.
  • Service Details: Session length, frequency, location.
  • Payment Rate & Package Options: Session rates, package prices, and discounts.
  • Payment Schedule: What date will the client pay and through what method e.g. direct debit, PayPal etc.
  • Late Payment Policy: Fees for late payments and grace periods.
  • Cancellation & Refund Terms: Refunds for cancellations and conditions for rescheduling.
  • Additional Terms: Contract renewal, dispute resolution, and liability clauses.

This type of information can be seen in the National Strength and Conditioning Association’s payment agreement form:

image6-minpersonal trainer forms

This contract allows the trainer to lay out the total cost of the programme and the method the client will pay, which will be approved and agreed upon with the client’s consent.

These forms help prevent financial loss for the trainer due to cancellations or unused sessions. It also prevents financial disputes between PTs and their clients by offering transparency in payment arrangements.

#9 Welcome Packs

A welcome pack is a great way to create a positive and professional first impression with your clients.

It can provide them with a clear overview of your services and what they can expect whilst on their fitness programme.

This will be explained through the inclusion of a:

  • Personalised welcome letter: An introduction expressing gratitude for the clients’ decisions to work with you and setting the tone for a positive, collaborative relationship
  • Your contact information: Your phone number, email, and social media handles, along with your working hours to make it easy for clients to reach you with any questions
  • Service overview: An overview of what their bespoke workout programme will include and how it can help them reach their end goals.
  • First Session Breakdown: Information about what clients can expect from their first session, including meeting points and what they need to bring
  • FAQs: Answering questions on session times, policies, and payment methods so clients have clear expectations of what to expect during their sessions
  • Client Goals and Progress Tracker: A space to monitor clients’ progress and mark milestones along the way, helping them stay motivated

On the first page of the welcome package, you could write an introduction to greet your new clients and include your signature to add a personal touch.

On the next page, they can find your contact details such as your number and social media handles. Many trainers also include a letter dedicated to the client personally, that will include information about their bespoke programme.

image4-minpersonal trainer forms

Including information in your welcome pack that explains the journey clients will take with you, creates a supportive and positive environment for them to achieve their goals.

If you would like to learn more, read our detailed guide on The Things to Include in a Welcome Pack.

Personal Trainer Forms For Clients

image12-minpersonal trainer forms

Personal trainer forms can help you set goals and track the progress of your clients, allowing you and your clients to move in a direction that reflects their needs.
Here are some forms you’ll find useful to monitor your clients’ goals and progress.

#10 Goal Setting Form

With a goal-setting form, your clients can define their targets clearly, this will be an essential form for personal trainers when it comes to creating bespoke workout programmes.

It may help to create these forms as specific as possible, for example, you could include information and prompts that will allow the client to create defined SMART Goals. This will help in the creation of their bespoke training programmes at a later date.

A goal-setting form will feature:

  • Clients Info: Personal details and current fitness
  • Baseline Measurements: Weight, body fat and muscle mass measurements
  • Action Plan: Steps to take with target dates, goals and potential challenges
  • Review Schedule: Timeline for progress reviews
  • Signatures: Both you and the clients sign to confirm the plans

New Zealand Institute of Health and Fitness demonstrate how you can gain insight into a client’s goals, through prompts that encourage them to be as detailed as possible:

image26-min-personal trainer forms

By creating a form with a similar layout, you’ll have a strong foundation to gather essential information to create a personalised training programme for your clients.

A goal-setting form ensures a client’s progress can be monitored with adjustments being made to keep sessions aligned with the client’s goals to achieve sustainable goals.

#11 Nutrition Tracker & Diary

Nutrition trackers and diaries are simple and effective tools to help clients keep themselves accountable by encouraging them to document their eating habits.

They help track what your clients consume and can include aspects such as:

  • Date and Time: When food is consumed
  • Portion Sizes: The quantity of food eaten e.g. weight in grams etc
  • Mood and Energy Levels: Monitors how food affects well-being
  • Meal Types: Identifies food groups consumed
  • Additional Notes: Space for personal reflections on the day’s diet

Heart has created an easy-to-use tracker that helps people track their daily food intake, and calorie consumption, along with a notes section to record how they feel before and after the meal.

image20-minpersonal trainer forms

With a nutrition tracker, clients are more likely to follow your dietary recommendations, as the act of writing it down will help to solidify positive changes. By regularly documenting the food they eat, it helps identify areas they can improve on.

You can provide personalised feedback, while you and your clients can track their progression and discuss necessary dietary adjustments, if needed.

#12 Monthly Check-In Form

A monthly client check-in form for personal training helps you understand how your clients are feeling about their own progress. It also gives you the chance to get valuable feedback on your performance.

A monthly check-in form can include:

  • Training Assessment: The client rates satisfaction with the current program
  • Nutrition Evaluation: How well clients have followed nutrition guidance
  • Challenges: This helps clients address any problems they’ve encountered
  • Additional Feedback: Open-ended section for extra comments

One way you could do this is through a points system, as evident from the example below that encourages clients to rate how satisfied they are from 1-10.
There is then room for them to provide more detailed written feedback, so you’re getting the best of both worlds.

image9-minpersonal trainer forms

By offering this form to clients they’re more likely to feel supported which can increase their confidence and help them stay committed to your training programme.

In short, these check-ins can keep your clients on track and help to build your rapport with them even further. For additional tips on writing check-in questions, check out our article ‘7 PT Check-In Questions’.

#13 Client Referral Policy

A client referral policy incentivises existing clients to refer family and friends to your PT services.

For reference, you should offer your existing clients a clear incentive to make this referral, and try to think of what would encourage you to personally make a referral. Take a look at this example from Diverse Fitness who ran a ‘Bring Your Friend’ promotional campaign:

image23-min-personal trainer forms

From this example, the incentive is clear – if you bring a friend then you will both get to train with each other for free. Other forms of incentive could be:

  • Money or vouchers
  • Branded merchandise
  • Discounted rates

But before clients can successfully refer someone, they’ll need to provide the following information to receive the reward, including:

  • Referrer’s Name & Contact Info
  • Referred Person’s Name & Contact Info
  • Referral’s Fitness Goals
  • Current Fitness

Here’s one way you could design your client referral form:

image13-minpersonal trainer forms

A well-structured policy can improve your client base and foster loyalty, creating a strong community around your services. With our article on ‘Getting Personal Trainer Referrals” you can learn how to incorporate this into your own business.

Forms for Personal Training Websites

#14 Online Personal Training Form

Online personal trainer forms are useful if you’re looking to train clients through virtually. These documents will cover a range of topics such as consent, health & safety, as well as what the programme entails.

An online personal trainer form normally includes:

  • Purpose and Explanation: Outlines the online programme, its goals and what the bespoke workouts involve
  • Acknowledgement of Risks: Informs clients of potential physical activity risks and protects you from liability
  • Health Status Declaration: Requires disclosure of pre-existing conditions or injuries
  • Confidentiality Assurance: Explains data privacy and protection
  • Consent Statement: Affirms the client’s understanding and voluntary participation

You can see how this information can be presented in the example below. Since this online form is written for someone wanting to lose weight, section 2 has been written to reflect these goals.

image7-minpersonal trainer formsBy agreeing to these terms, you and your clients have a clear understanding of the fitness goals, health history and limitations of what they can achieve with this type of training.

#15 Privacy Policy

A privacy policy informs clients how their data is collected, used, and protected. It’s a legal requirement under GDPR for you to display this on your website.

You can learn more about making your privacy policy GDPR-compliant by reading our article GDPR for personal trainers.

For you to have a GDPR-compliant privacy policy you’ll need to make sure it includes:

  • Data Collection: What type of personal data is collected, such as names or health-related info?
  • Purpose of Data Use: Explains the reasons for data collection, i.e. to help write training plans or communicate with clients
  • Legal Basis: Details consent or contractual obligations for processing data
  • Data Sharing: Discloses third parties with whom data is shared
  • Data Security: Outlines measures to protect personal data
  • Client Rights: Inform clients of their rights under GDPR

With personal trainer legal forms, it’s important to make sure you have this information written out clearly, as demonstrated by this privacy policy from Personal Fitness Trainer UK:

image1-minpersonal trainer forms

This privacy policy is a good example because it explains why the data is being collected and ensures it complies with data protection laws.
It also respects client consent and their privacy rights, providing transparency on data retention and the rights clients have regarding their information.

It’s believed when employees are healthy, they feel better physically and mentally leading to improved work performance, fewer absences and increased positivity.

Corporate personal trainers can train clients one-on-one, offering tailored fitness plans and expert advice that align with each individual’s goals. Alternatively, they can also lead group sessions, allowing employees to exercise in a supportive environment where they encourage each other.

Alongside delivering fitness programmes for employees, corporate personal training can enhance the well-being of clients by focusing on:

What Do Corporate Fitness Trainers Do?

Where do corporate pts work

Corporate fitness coaches are responsible for designing and leading fitness programmes that promote employees’ overall health and productivity.

Research from the American Psychological Association shows that employees engaged in wellness programs are more productive and satisfied with their jobs.

Corporate fitness jobs involve carrying out a range of tasks to make their wellness programmes a success. Here are the key responsibilities corporate fitness trainers typically handle:

#1 Creating Bespoke Workout Programmes

Corporate personal trainer working with client

Personalised training programmes can enhance a client’s workout experiences as they are tailored to their fitness levels and overall goals. They can be amended over time to factor in things like progress or injuries, always aligning with ever-evolving fitness targets.

#2 Leading Group and One-on-One Sessions

Corporate personal trainers can lead workout classes and small group pt sessions attending to several clients at once.

In this instance, PTs will guide their corporate clients through workouts such as HIIT and circuit training as part of a group. It will still run in the same manner as 1-to-1 sessions, with the trainer offering demonstrations, corrections and feedback to each attendee.

Working in this manner can help create a sense of community, where the corporate clients can encourage their colleagues, offering additional motivation.

However, as a corporate trainer, you may also run standard private sessions. Here you will work with clients individually, creating and delivering bespoke workout sessions that meet their individual needs and goals.

#3 Monitoring Employee Performance and Progress

corporate pt checking clients progress

A corporate personal trainer will assess the performance of employees attending the wellness programme. This will help them recognise improvements, identify weaknesses, and adjust their workouts accordingly.

Trainers will assess these areas by keeping records of important metrics such as strength, flexibility, and body composition. This will allow them to refine and adjust strategies to meet the evolving needs of employees and guarantee their ongoing improvement.

To learn more about how you can compile these reports, check out our exploration of ‘Personal Training Progress Reports

#4 Providing Feedback and Instruction

Corporate personal trainer feedback

Trainers will offer feedback to their corporate clients whilst they’re working out to make sure they are following the proper form and technique. This can help reduce the risk of injury and improve the effectiveness of their exercise.

They also provide motivational support to boost confidence and encourage employees to push their limits in a safe and controlled manner.

#5 Equipment Maintenance

Corporate personal trainers will also need to make sure that equipment is well-maintained, safe to use, and in good working order, especially if you’re self-employed. If you’re employed by a gym, there may be a specific member of the maintenance team that you can work alongside.

If you run your own business, it’s recommended that you invest in a personal trainer insurance policy that includes equipment coverage. This will help protect your tools in the event it’s damaged and need replacing.

#6 Organising Wellness Workshops

Corporate pt wellness workshops

Beyond fitness classes, corporate personal trainers are also responsible for running wellness workshops and education seminars. These will educate employees on topics such as:

  • Stress management
  • Nutrition
  • Mental Health

These workshops can also be an opportunity to offer team-building challenges focused on wellness to create a more engaged active workforce.

#7 Working with HR and Management

Corporate personal trainers will have to work closely with HR and Management Teams of their associated clients. This will help to make sure that the wellness programme aligns with the company’s overall goal.

During these meetings, trainers can report on:

  • Programme participation
  • Progress of the employees
  • Employee engagement
  • Feedback on overall performance

In return, the HR and Management team may provide insight into the positive effect of the wellness programme. Such as how it’s affecting employee productivity and retention rates among staff.

In this instance, the corporate personal trainer can conduct their sessions from a variety of locations.

Therefore, you can see that as a corporate PT, you have the opportunity to work from a variety of exciting locations, which can vary depending on your employers and the clients you work with.

How Are Corporate Fitness Trainers Employed?

How are corporate pts employed

#1 Contracted Employment With Gyms and Fitness Centres

It is common for corporate personal trainers to work as contracted employees for gyms and fitness centres. In this instance, trainers will work with corporate clients assigned to them by their employers, offering services such as:

  • Bespoke workout programmes
  • Group workout sessions
  • Informative seminars

All of which will meet the unique needs of the corporate clients. An example of these jobs can be seen below, where MotivePT state that they are looking for a candidate to work from a variety of locations:

how to become a corporate PT 2

Contracted employment for corporate PTs comes with many benefits, such as fixed working hours and a guaranteed source of income that you can depend on.
These trainers also don’t have to worry about sourcing new leads to build a client base, as their employers will be responsible for getting corporate clients through the doors. In contracted roles, corporate personal trainers can also receive regular performance reviews and feedback from employers, which in turn can help improve performance.

#2 Self-Employed Personal Trainers

Alternatively, personal trainers can decide to run their own business, creating and delivering corporate programmes themselves. Tony Larkman is one of many PTs who has taken this career route:

how to become a corporate PT 5

Larkman demonstrates the many benefits that can come from being self-employed as a corporate PT. For example, by running your own business you can control your working hours, choosing when you wish to operate, meaning you could work to your client’s availability e.g. after office hours, to ensure your schedule is always filled.

You can also set their prices, having complete control over the pricing structure for corporate packages. As a result, self-employed corporate trainers have an unlimited earning potential, meaning they can earn a significantly higher income compared to those who have a predetermined work schedule and salary.

On top of this, you could even launch online corporate packages too, targeting potential clients outside of your local area, to expand your reach and increase your potential client pool.

As a self-employed trainer, you could even market corporate wellness as your niche, much like Larkman above and charge increased fees for your expertise.

What is The Average Corporate Personal Trainer Salary?

corporate pt salary

Indeed states the average salary for a personal trainer in the UK is £31,037 per year. However, this figure can vary significantly depending on a variety of factors, such as:

  • Experience
  • Location
  • How You’re Employed – e.g. Contracted or Self-Employed.

how to become a corporate PT 2

For example, as with many other industries, newly qualified personal trainers tend to earn less than those with several years of experience.

Additional qualifications can also boost your earning potential as a corporate personal trainer. For instance, if you have a Level 4 Advanced Sports Nutrition certification, you could charge higher fees for your expertise.

Personal trainers who live in larger cities, such as London will also earn more due to higher demand and living costs, for example, the fees will offset expenses such as higher rent.

Check out these stats from Indeed, which highlight that PTs in London earn an average of £33,759 per year, whereas those who live in Reading earn £30,714:

how to become a corporate PT 3

You should also consider that the stats presented by Indeed will largely be influenced by those in contracted positions. Corporate personal trainers who work on a self-employed basis could earn a significantly higher wage, as their earning potential is uncapped due to the fact that they can set their own fees and working hours.

Whereas contracted trainers have a fixed, dependable wage every month and set hours they must meet, as predetermined in their contract. Check out our article calculating ‘the average salary of a personal trainer’ to see what you could be earning in this role.

Before You Go!

Now that you know how to become a corporate personal trainer, you can go out and take the industry by storm. In this position you can work with exciting corporate clients, helping their employees to achieve their fitness goals!

What is a HYROX Coach?

Become A HYROX Coach 1

HYROX is a popular fitness competition that sees athletes from across the world compete in eight 1km runs, inter-spliced with eight functional workouts, which include rowing and sledge pull/pushes, to test their endurance and strength.

To optimise their performance and ensure they’re ready to complete, athletes attend group sessions led by HYROX professionals. Some may even hire personal coaches to create bespoke training programmes to get the best results.

For example, these coaches can work with clients 1-to-1 helping to manage their running pace transitions into functional exercises. The training will be designed to simulate real competition events that help people manage pressure and reduce the risk of injuries.

What Qualifications Do You Need to Become a HYROX Coach?

Become a HYROX Coach 2

There are three qualifications you need to earn to become a HYROX coach in the UK. The courses ensure that you’re fully equipped with the necessary knowledge and skills required to prepare athletes for these highly competitive routines.

#1 – Level 3 Personal Training Course

If you want to become a HYROX PERFORMANCE COACH, you will need to first complete a Level 3 Personal Training Course.

This is clearly outlined on the HYROX website which states you need to have a ‘nationally accredited certification for Personal Training’

How to become a HYROX COACH 10-min

For example, OriGym’s Level 3 Personal Trainer Diploma meets these requirements as they are CISMPA endorsed and regulated by Ofqual. Our qualification is also internationally recognised, ensuring that it meets the standards outlined above by HYROX.

This qualification will lay the foundation of your career, teaching you how to create and deliver bespoke workout programmes for your clients. Many of the skills you acquire during your PT Diploma can be transferred to your career as a HYROX coach.

For example, you’ll also learn:

  • Applied anatomy and physiology
  • Principles of nutrition
  • How to motivate clients

Once you graduate, you can create tailored training programmes that help to improve your client’s performance during HYROX events.

#2 – HYROX Foundation Course

How to become a HYROX COACH 9-min

Alongside a Level 3 Personal Training Diploma, you will also need to complete a HYROX Foundation Course in order to become a certified ‘Group Instructor’

With the HYROX Foundation Course, you’ll:

  • Learn all the HYROX Fundamentals.
  • Receive a 12 week Training Plan and gain the Upper Hand on Race Day.
  • Learn about the HYROX365 Training Concept and start your Coaching Journey.

This qualification provides you with the opportunity to kickstart a career in HYROX. It’s also essential that you get this under your belt before progressing on to the next level.

#3 – HYROX365 Level 1 Course: HYROX PERFORMANCE COACH

How to become a HYROX COACH 4-min

What Is The Difference Between a HYROX Group Instructor vs PERFORMANCE COACH?

Become A HYROX Coach 6

It’s important to know the difference between a HYROX Group Instructor and a PERFORMANCE COACH, as whilst both fall under the respective brand they are defined as two different levels of training.

A ‘HYROX Group Instructor’ can lead group workout classes that help prepare participants for HYROX events. In this role, you won’t provide personalised programming or adjust workouts based on clients’ performances.

In contrast, a HYROX PERFORMANCE COACH will have more responsibilities and work directly with athletes.

These qualified individuals can develop workouts to reflect the different abilities and fitness goals of their clients. They’ll also have a deeper understanding of nutrition and advanced training techniques to improve a person’s performance at HYROX events.

It’s important to remember that one role is not superior to another, as both of these HYROX coaching roles contribute to the participants’ success at events.

Whether you choose to become a HYROX Group Instructor or PERFORMANCE COACh you can start a highly rewarding career, with a brand you’re passionate about, helping others achieve their aspirations.

How Much Does it Cost to Become a HYROX Coach in the UK?

Understanding how to become a certified HYROX trainer requires you to also know about course costs. Different qualification levels mean different prices. For example, the introductory HYROX Foundation Course costs just £46.02:

How to become a HYROX COACH 14-min

Meanwhile, HYROX’s Level 1 Course is naturally more advanced and therefore costs a higher fee, at £468.61:

Hyrox Level 1

The higher cost is reflected in what the course delivered, for example, the Level 1 Qualification takes a deeper look at coaching techniques so you understand the procedures you need to follow to make sure clients are ready to perform at their best on race day.

If you’re passionate about HYROX and want to become a PERFORMANCE COACH, then earning a qualification is a great investment in your professional development to become a high-level trainer.

Government-funded courses can offer financial assistance if you want to complete yoga teacher training. But is it a worthwhile investment?

To answer this question we’re going to compare government-funded yoga courses with non-funded options, discussing topics such as:

If you’re interested in turning your passions into a rewarding career, OriGym’s Level 3 Yoga Diploma will equip you with the skills and knowledge you need to become a successful teacher.

What Are Government-Funded Yoga Courses?

Yoga teacher training government funded 6

Government-funded yoga courses are fairly self-explanatory by name. Applicants can use government funding to cover the cost of their qualifications.

Whilst this may seem instantly appealing, please be aware that you will need to pay these loans back, and in some instances, the government may even add interest to your debt!

To apply for these government-funded yoga courses, you will need to meet very specific criteria, which can vary depending on which loan/grant you’re applying for.

Some of the most popular options available in the UK include:

  • Advanced Learner Loan
  • Low-Value Provision Scheme

Let’s explore these in more detail:

#1 Advanced Learner Loan

The UK government offers ‘Advanced Learner Loans’ to people over the age of 19 who want to complete a Level 3-6 Qualification at an approved college or training provider. The amount you receive can range between £720 and £4,835.

If you want to apply for an ‘Advanced Learner Loan’ you need to meet specific criteria outlined by the UK Government. Whether you qualify for this will depend on whether you meet requirements such as:

  • Age
  • Course
  • College or training provider
  • Nationality or residency status

When you enrol with a college or training provider, they will receive payment from Student Finance to cover the costs of your course.

Keep in mind that you will have to repay your advanced learner loan. This process begins when you earn an income over your predetermined ‘threshold’ amount – this will be outlined to you before your enrolment.

One of the major downsides of the Advanced Learner Loan is that you will be charged interest from the day you make your first repayment.

Yoga teacher training government funded 1

#2 Low-Value Provision Scheme

The UK government and the Department for Work and Pension (DWP) also offers the Low-Value Provision Scheme (LVP). It aims to offer short vocational and occupational training for people looking for employment in their area.

You could qualify with a Level 3 Yoga Qualification through this scheme and gain the skills you need to work in the industry.

To meet the eligibility criteria to receive LVP funding your applications need to provide:

  • Evidence you’re looking for work as a yoga teacher – For example you could submit your CV to studios or attend local classes and make friends with instructors.
  • Report of The Cost of Your Yoga Teacher Training – This can vary depending on your provider and how you choose to study
  • Find an Advisor on Your Course – They will report back to Government about your progress

You’ll also need to agree to the terms and conditions outlined by the government in order to receive LVP-funded training if your application is successful.

You’ll also need to schedule an appointment with a DWP advisor who will:

  • Guide you through the application process
  • Review the documentation you’ve provided
  • Make sure the yoga training meets the requirements for funding

Once you’ve submitted your application, it will remain active for 12 months or until your employment status changes.

It’s expected that each application that is submitted to DWP can take several weeks to be processed. Which is one of the major downsides to applying for this loan, as it can severely delay your career progression.

It can also be challenging to find a Level 3 Yoga Course provider that accepts funding from the LVP scheme, which could further delay the time it takes to qualify.

Is There a Government Grant for Yoga Teacher Training?

Yoga teacher training government funded 7

Yes, you can receive a government grant for yoga teacher training. One of the most popular examples being, the Military Resettlement Grant the benefit of receiving which is that you won’t need to pay it back and it’s completely tax free!

According to the RAF website, you can receive up to £15,047 which will be added on to your final month’s salary.

However, keep in mind that despite the way it’s worded, the Military Resettlement Grant this is not a pension or an equivalent. It’s a lump sum paid to service personnel who are not eligible for:

  • Early Departure Payment
  • Immediate Pension
  • Ill Health Award

Applicants must also meet the following requirements:

  • AFPS 2015 and AFPS 2005: all personnel need to have 12 years’ relevant service (from date of entry)
  • AFPS 1975: Officers to have at least 2 years’ Commissioned service and have 9 relevant years of reckonable service from age 21
  • AFPS 1975: other ranks to have 12 relevant years of reckonable service from age 18.

There are no specific government grants for yoga teacher training. Therefore it may be worth looking into general grants and bursaries available to adult learners on the UK.Gov website.

How Long Will I Have to Wait to Get My Yoga Teacher Training Government Funded?

Yoga teacher training government funded 2

Yoga teacher training that is government funded is not instantaneous and it can take some time to be approved. For example, the Advanced Learner Loan can take up to two weeks to be processed.

This time is used to review your application which will look into your residential and financial status.

It’s important when filling out any application that you provide all the correct information and supporting evidence. Even small inconsistencies or mistakes can result in your application being delayed or outright rejected, forcing you to start the process all over again.

What is a ‘Self Funded’ Yoga Teacher Training Course?

Yoga teacher training government funded 11

When you enrol on a self-funded yoga teacher training course, you will pay the course provider yourself.

There are many benefits to completing a self-funded yoga course compared to a government-funded one, including it:

  • Being a fraction of the cost– Self-funded courses don’t rely on government subsidies that normally come with administrative costs, allowing for lower-priced courses.
  • Offering no added interest– Meaning you pay a fixed cost for your course and don’t have to worry about interest rates increasing how much you repay on a government-funded course.
  • Coming with a flexible payment plan- Self-funded courses such as the ones available at OriGym allow you to pay in instalments, giving you control over how much you’re able to pay each month.

The cost of self-funded yoga teacher training courses can vary depending on which provider you choose.

Several factors can influence the overall price of your qualification. We cover this topic in greater detail in our article exploring ‘How Much Does Yoga Teacher Training Cost?’.

Are Government-Funded Yoga Courses The Same As Non-Funded Options?

Yoga teacher training government funded 15

Yes, they are! Regardless of whether you enrol on a self-funded or a government funded yoga course you’ll receive a Level 3 Yoga Teacher Training Qualification.

You should always check that the training you receive from your provider is regulated by a body such as Ofqual, who is responsible for setting the framework for vocational training courses.

If a course is Ofqual-regulated, it will be labelled according to its level such as OriGym’s a Level 3 Yoga Teaching Diploma.

A non-regulated course can delay the start of your yoga career, potentially undermining the skills you need as a yoga professional. Unregulated qualifications aren’t worth the paper they’re printed on and will likely be free or extremely cheap.

Whilst this may seem tempting, be sure to learn more about why you should avoid these providers with this article on ‘Free Yoga Teacher Training’

What Are The Differences Between Self-Funded And Government-Funded Yoga Courses?

Yoga teacher training government funded 10

It’s important to understand the difference between self-funded and government-funded yoga courses before enrolling on a specific qualification.

Here are five key factors to consider:

#1 Government-Funded Yoga Courses Are More Expensive

Yoga teacher training government funded 9

Government-funded yoga teacher training courses often come with higher overall costs. Providers do this because they know that a student will get a higher grant from the government in order to cover the cost of the qualification.

Compare this to OriGym, where we offer self-funded Level 3 Yoga Teacher Training courses from £935 – with no hidden fees or interest included!

Both providers offer the same qualification following graduation, so why would any student want to pay more?

#2 Self-Funded Yoga Courses Offer Flexible Repayments

Yoga teacher training government funded 14

How you pay for your yoga teaching courses will also greatly differ depending on whether you opt for a government or self-funded option.

Training providers that offer government funded yoga teacher courses will typically require you to pay the entire sum of the course up front.

Self-funded courses offer much more flexibility, for example providers such as OriGym will allow you to set up a payment plan. With this, you can spread the cost of your course and pay in instalments.

On top of this, self-funded alternatives (OriGym included) won’t add any interest on what you owe, the price you see is the price you’ll pay. The same cannot be said for government loans, which can increase with added interest over the course of time.

Another advantage of self-funded courses is that if you can pay up front, the provider will typically offer you some kind of discount. Whereas government funded yoga teacher training will simply take the entire lump sum of your qualification with no special deal or offer provided.

#3 Government-Funded Courses Include Interest Charges

Yoga teacher training government funded 13

There are government-funded loans, such as the Advanced Learner Loan, that tie their interest rates to inflation. This means you’ll pay interest on your loan beginning with your first repayment until the loan has been fully repaid or after 25 years when the loan is written off.

The interest rate for this type of loan is RPI + up to 3% and will be included in the repayments you make once you earn over £27,295.

This can lead to higher costs over time and should be something to consider before choosing to apply for an Advanced Learner Loan.

By contrast, self-funded course providers such as OriGym don’t charge interest rates on qualifications. This can make them a more cost-effective option if you’re looking to reduce the cost of your yoga course over time.

#4 Self-Funded Courses Let You Choose Your Study Method

Yoga teacher training government funded 8

If you opt for a government funded yoga teacher training course, you may notice that you’re limited to a very specific study option. Most providers that offer this payment option typically require students to study in person.

This is due to the fact that in order to receive government funding you will need to adhere to strict rules and regulations. For example:

  • Your attendance will be recorded
  • Your progress will be monitored
  • You will need to meet a certain number of teaching hours per week
  • You will need to provide evidence to the government that you’re looking for work

Self-funded courses, by contrast, offer greater flexibility, allowing you to choose a study method that suits your preferred learning style and schedule.

Some learning options on offer to you will include:

#5 Government-Funded Courses Have Strict Eligibility Requirements

Yoga teacher training government funded 16

If you want to receive government-funding you need to make sure you meet very specific criteria. This will typically be outlined during your application process, for example the Advanced Learner Loan will take into account your:

  • Age
  • Chosen course
  • College or training provider
  • Nationality or residency status

However, self-funded qualifications will typically have fewer entry requirements in place, making them more accessible to students from different backgrounds.

For example, OriGym’s Level 3 Yoga Teacher Training is an entry level qualification suitable for students of all abilities and experience levels. The only requirement is that you must be aged 16+ prior to your enrolment.

Does Every Course Provider Offer Government-Funded Yoga Courses?

Yoga teacher training government funded 7

There are only a small number of training providers who offer government funding for yoga courses. If you want to enrol on a government-funded course, you’ll likely have to accept the limitations to your course, such as:

  • Study Method – Government-funded courses are usually online, limiting your ability to receive face-to-face tuition
  • Student Support – They may also offer limited support, reducing access to tutoring or mentorship.
  • Teaching Resources – Government-funded courses may lack advanced materials and access to workshops
  • Post-Course Support –may be limited to government-funded courses

This is different from self-funded yoga courses, which will provide you with a broader range of providers to choose from. This allows you to make a more informed decision and select a course that better suits your learning goals.

Before You Go!

Becoming a yoga instructor can be the start of a rewarding journey that can begin with choosing the right training provider. It can equip you with the skills and set the foundations for a successful career in yoga.

If you’re interested in pursuing a self-funded yoga course, you could start your journey today with OriGym’s Level 3 Diploma in Yoga

Have you considered using AI as a personal trainer? Artificial Intelligence is no longer science fiction, from retail to health, nearly every professional sector uses it in some capacity.

The fitness industry is no exception with Promo reporting that 84% of fitness consumers want to use AI for their fitness routines. We’ll discuss this emerging technology in detail, covering topics such as:

With AI, you can free up time to expand your skills as a PT. You could complete a Level 4 Nutrition Course to write your clients’ meal plans. Download our course prospectus to learn more.

What is AI?

AI personal trainer-what is ai

IBM, a multinational technology company that works with AI, defines it as a:

“Technology that enables computers and machines to simulate human learning, comprehension, problem solving, decision making, creativity and autonomy.”

Some of the capabilities of AI software include:

  • Recognising speech
  • Understanding language
  • Analysing information
  • Answering questions

One of the most popular examples of AI is ChatGPT which has over 200 million weekly users according to WiserNotify. Others you may be familiar with include:

  • Devices like Alexa & Google Nest
  • Recommended Posts on Social Media
  • Navigation Tools: Google & Apple Maps

Despite its advancements, AI still has limitations such as the information it provides can be biased or not fully representative. Additionally, there are also privacy concerns regarding the handling of private data and personal details.

We’d encourage you to do some research before using AI for personal training to ensure you’re using safe and reputable software.

How to Use AI As a Personal Trainer

AI personal trainer-boost

There is no doubt that AI personal trainer tools are transforming the fitness industry, by improving client experience and reducing workloads to help businesses run more efficiently.

Here are some ways that you can implement AI software and tools into your own PT business:

#1 Create Customised Workout Programmes

AI personal trainer-workout

As a personal trainer, one of your main responsibilities will be to create and deliver bespoke workout programmes to clients. AI can help with this process, through data analysis it can provide suggestions that will help ensure a client’s goals and specifications are met.

AI tools such as Microsoft’s Copilot can analyse data and help generate these programmes. To receive these suggestions, you can input a client’s:

  • Body composition
  • Cardiovascular endurance
  • Strength benchmarks
  • Flexibility readings

This information will help ensure that the recommendations provided by the AI software will align with your client’s capabilities. You could also use the same data analytic tools to help create bespoke meal plans.

Be aware, as a personal trainer AI should be used as a supportive tool and not replace your entire job. Do not use this software to copy and paste these programmes, instead, you should proofread and edit them prior to sending them to a client.

#2 Develop Effective Business Strategies

AI personal trainer-results

Staying on the subject of data analysis, AI for personal trainers can also be used to recognise patterns in clients’ behaviour, such as:

  • Motivations
  • Engagement
  • Attendance Levels

These can help to identify strengths and weaknesses in your business model, in addition to learning how you perform about your competitors.

With this information, you can make amendments to factors such as marketing strategies and pricing structures. For example, after analysing a client’s behaviours you may find that they are willing to pay extra for additional services such as meal plans.

You can then amend your price packages to reflect this, charging an increased fee for these specialist services.

#3 Manage Your Work Schedule

AI personal trainer-schedule

The best AI for personal trainers can help structure your workday through the creation of schedules and plans.

Software such as Scheduleify aims to create the most productive work schedule for your day. These can be moulded and adapted to the rules you input, for example, you can state which days you don’t work to ensure these are freed up.

Having a set schedule to work from can boost productivity and ensure you stay on track. Rather than jumping aimlessly from one task to another, you can make sure they are completed efficiently before a set deadline.

#4 Communicate with Your Clients Effortlessly

AI personal trainer-communication

Communicating with your clients has never been easier thanks to AI tools. Many businesses choose to incorporate chatbots across their website and social media platforms, training them to answer commonly asked questions and queries.

AI tools can be used to write tailored responses based on a client’s history in the same way Facebook Messenger interacts with their users.

They do this through two types of chatbots:

  • Rule-based chatbots– Uses pre-scripts to answer questions about operating hours, prices, and offers.
  • Intent-based chatbots– Create more conversation-based responses to create the impression someone is talking to another person.

When you use a chatbot feature, you’ll free up time for complex tasks, such as dealing with complex queries, handling complaints and interacting with your current clients through things like check-ins.

#5 You Can Use it To Generate Creative Ideas for Marketing Content

AI personal trainer-ideas

Establishing a strong identity in the fitness industry is crucial to long-term success as a personal trainer. To achieve this, you’ll need to create effective marketing materials such as:

  • Social media posts
  • Emails
  • Blog posts

AI sites like Copy.ai can help you with this process, you can use it to brainstorm content ideas that reflect and maintain your existing brand.

#6 AI Can Help You Manage Equipment

AI personal trainer-gym equipment

If you work in a gym as a personal trainer, AI can also provide insight into how clients use equipment. You can use these tools to track and monitor the frequency at which they’re used and what times they’re most popular.

This knowledge can help a gym run more efficiently, for example, you may discover that more clients are using weights compared to cardio machines. Following this, you could arrange the space to provide more room for this popular option to avoid crowding.

You can also use these insights to create an effective cleaning schedule, noting the times when machines are most likely to be free.

What Are The Benefits of Using AI As A Personal Trainer?

AI personal trainer-understand clients

There are many benefits to incorporating AI into your personal training business, ensuring that both you and your clients will reap the rewards:

#1 It Will Save You Time

AI personal trainer-time management

When you use AI you’ll notice how much time is freed up through automating tasks such as:

  • Email Marketing
  • Direct Debit Payments / Contract Renewals
  • Enquiries

Instead of spending time on your laptop or behind a desk, this will free up time to train clients at the gym and build up your relationship.

#2 Improves Your Productivity

AI personal trainer-schedule

AI personal trainer tools can improve your productivity by helping to automate your tasks. Some of the ways you can incorporate this into your business include:

  • Creating a schedule for yourself
  • Generating ideas for marketing materials
  • Implementing chatbots to respond to enquiries

Automating with AI frees up more time for you to focus on other tasks that require your attention such as meeting with clients face-to-face and engaging with them to keep retention rates high.

In short, if a task is simple and can be automated you should look into whether it’s possible for your business to boost your productivity.

#3 You Can Better Understand Your Clients

AI personal trainer-clients

An effective training programme can’t be created without first understanding a client’s behaviour. AI is a powerful tool that can be used to analyse large amounts of data, in order to:

  • Monitor A Client’s Current Performance
  • Set Accurate Goals
  • Create A Bespoke Training Programme

Through this improved monitoring system you will have a better understanding of your client. This allows for a greater level of customisation, ensuring they receive a unique experience that has been tailored to their specific needs.

Additionally, AI can also analyse data on other business aspects such as customer retention rates. This can help you identify areas where you can improve, to ensure these levels remain high.

#4 Innovative Ideas

AI personal trainer-innovate

Personal trainers are used to having a busy schedule and may find it difficult to have the time to think creatively to discover unique ideas and solutions that can enhance their work as a personal trainer.

With the emergence of AI, you can discover new ideas that you might not be able to uncover yourself. It can help you escape routine thinking and explore new pathways you might not have discovered before.

This is commonly referred to as ‘Divergent Thinking’ which is a vital psychological component in the creative process. AI software achieves this through analysing your clients’ existing data and behavioural patterns.

For example, if you’re working with older populations, ChatGPT can recommend low-impact exercises such as chair squats, balance drills, and safety precautions to help them enjoy a safe workout that matches their ability.

You could also provide data regarding how your clients interact with your content on social media. This can help to generate ideas that are purposely created to get the most clicks and engagement.

See AI as a tool that helps you expand your skills and ways of thinking to help your sessions continually put your clients first.

#5 Help With Safety Issues

AI personal trainer 1

Studies prove that AI can improve people’s safety, Protex AI noted that when Marks and Spencer deployed this technology warehouse incidents were reduced by 80%.

As a personal trainer, the safety of your clients should always come first. Thanks to advancements in AI, you will be able to monitor behavioural patterns that could be potential risks.

Smartwatches are great examples of devices with this software built-in. The data collected includes:

  • Heart Rate
  • Step Count
  • Joint Angles

This data can help analyse issues such as joint instabilities and cardiovascular limitations that can impact their performance and the workout programme you create.

Using AI as part of your risk assessment to reduce clients’ injuries, helps you to foster a relationship of trust between your clients and to keep them safe.

What Are The Downsides of Using AI As a Personal Trainer?

AI personal trainer-downsides

As you’ve read so far, personal training with AI can enhance a client’s overall experience.

However, there are some limitations to its usage, understanding this can help you make informed decisions about how you use the tools.

#1 It Can Be a Costly Investment

AI personal trainer-cost

Whilst AI is becoming more accessible to the general public, that doesn’t mean all these capabilities are available for free. If you’re looking to integrate complex technologies and software into your business you’ll likely have to pay a recurring fee to do so.

These can be quite a costly investment, especially if you’re just starting. For example, Jasper AI is a tool used for copywriting, in total the prices range between $39(£30) -$59 (£46) per month depending on how many words you need.

Likewise, MarketingCloudFX is an AI platform designed to help manage and enhance successful marketing campaigns. On average, pieces range between $299 (£234.45) – $999 (£783.18) per month.

Remember, the more complex tasks you want AI to complete, you’ll likely have to pay a higher fee. We’d recommend shopping around and trying to find a cost-effective solution that fits within your budget.

#2 AI is Not a Self-Learning Tool

AI personal trainer-strategies

There are AI apps and websites, particularly free or lower-cost options, that cannot learn independently and need human intervention to optimise their performance. Trainers may need to continuously feed data, adjust settings, and provide insights to the AI to ensure it performs as intended.

This can therefore be a time-consuming process that requires a great deal of effort on your part, you simply won’t be able to install it and expect it to perform as you intended.

#3 The Results Provided Are Not Personable

AI personal trainer-benefits

AI is a tool that delivers objective results and can’t use emotional intelligence to help you improve your relationships with clients. This is still a responsibility that you will need to fulfil, ensuring that you’re empathetic and supportive of your client’s individual situations.

If you use AI to produce all your content then you run the risk of your content losing a sense of humanity and personality. This can make your business less appealing to clients as it makes them feel undervalued.

#4 There are Data Security Concerns

AI personal trainer-security

When learning how to use AI as a personal trainer, it’s important to always check the company’s data protection policies. Your client’s personal information will be handled, therefore you will want to ensure it’s kept safe and in line with the UK data protection laws.

As a result, you need to make sure the AI provider follows data protection regulations, as the potential for its misuse could undermine the client’s trust in you and could entangle you with legal complications.

#5 Your Dependency on AI Can Grow

AI personal trainer-dependancy

The more you use AI, the more your dependency on it can grow as it makes your life more convenient.

However, not every piece of technology is reliable and this includes AI. There is the possibility it can stop working which can interfere with your workflow, requiring you to do manual work that you would normally outsource to AI.

In some instances, you may need to repair the tool in addition to all these other responsibilities, essentially doubling your workload.

That is why it’s important to find a balance between using AI and completing tasks yourself to keep those skills refreshed. This will help you have the skills to manage support from clients with greater ease in the event you can’t use AI.

Will AI Replace Personal Trainers?

AI personal trainer-replace

AI is not going to replace personal trainers in the future. Whilst it can perform tasks such as personalising training programmes and tracking clients’ nutrition there is no replacement for the human touch you bring.

Only you as a PT can adjust workouts in real time, offer hands-on guidance in the gym, and create a sense of community during your group sessions, all of which can’t be achieved by AI.

As a personal trainer integrating AI into your work, you’ll be able to improve the quality of the training you provide and streamline your administrative tasks.
This collaboration can lead to more effective training experiences, allowing you as a PT to concentrate on what you do best: inspiring and guiding individuals on their fitness journeys.

Before You Go!

There is no denying that personal training with AI can positively impact your work and streamline your business. When incorporating it into your business you should always remember to monitor its quality to ensure it does not reflect poorly on your business.

If you’re looking for new ways to advance your business as a PT, be sure to enquire about OriGym’s Level 4 Nutrition Course. With this qualification, you can offer bespoke meal plans and nutrition coaching services to clients.

What Is The Job Market Like For a Nutritionist?

are nutritionists in high demand 4

Our students often ask, ‘Are nutritionists in demand?’ This question specifically relates to job prospects and whether it’s worth pursuing this role.

To show the demand for nutritionists exists, check out this 2021 government survey which discovered that eating better was the second-highest priority after exercising for millions of adults aged between 40-60.

A further study by College Values Online even estimated that the nutritionist job market is expected to grow by 11% by 2030.

Both of these studies support the idea that the job market is booming, with more potential clients engaging with nutrition practices than ever before.

What Positions Can You Apply For In The Nutritionist Job Market?

are you nutritionists in demand 1

Many job sites such as Indeed and Glassdoor also reflect this growing demand, advertising nutritionist positions across various sectors such as:

  • Health and Fitness
  • Private Companies
  • Charities

Be aware that the role of the nutritionist isn’t all identical and your responsibilities can differ depending on your employer.

For example, this position at Holroyd Howe, is a premium catering firm for independent schools. In this particular role, nutritionists play a vital role in planning and delivering healthy school meals for students:

are nutritionists in demand 17

Compare this to the following position at Big C Cancer Charity in Norwich. The primary responsibilities of this role include creating meal plans that aid in improving the lives of those battling cancer:

are nutritionists in demand 14

Both of the aforementioned job descriptions are for contracted positions, but as the demand for nutritionists is so great that many choose to become self-employed and start their own business.

Being your own boss comes with plenty of perks, for example you could choose to specialise in a particular area of nutrition that interests you. You’ll also be able to target a specific demographic of clients who would most benefit from your services.

For example, you could offer personalised meal plans to help people with weight management or and muscle gain,
As a self-employed nutritionist, you can advertise your business across a variety of platforms such as:

  • Your website
  • Your social media platforms – Instagram, TikTok, etc.
  • Third-party sites – Such as Bark

Check out this example from qualified nutritionist Fulda Birkaya who uses Bark to advertise her services, note all her linked profiles are included so potential clients can get greater insight into her work:

For more information on how you can make an impact in the self-employed job market, check out our article detailing how to become a nutritionist online.

Are Nutritionists in High Demand Across Different Sectors of The Job Market?

are nutritionists in high demand 6

The role of a nutritionist is varied, depending on which sector you work in aspects such as your clients and responsibilities can differ. For example, what’s expected of a sports nutritionist will differ from a professional working in a clinical setting.

But are nutritionists in high demand across these different sectors? Let’s discuss this by looking closely at various positions:

#1 Sports Nutrition

To get a clear understanding of just how popular this industry is with clients, Mintel estimated that the UK’s sports nutrition market is currently worth £198 million. This provides clear insight into the growing demand for these experts, proving that clients are willing to invest in these services.

Additionally, according to Euromonitor, the demand for online sports nutrition e-commerce is expected to grow by 60% between now and 2028. This huge increase shows that consumers are willing to invest in virtual services, which you can capitalise on.

For example, you could create bespoke meal plans that help them reach their fitness goals and sell them through your website and social media platforms. You could also offer nutrition coaching services and provide clients with support online.

Many sporting institutions like sports clubs, training centres, and private clinics are looking to recruit a sports nutritionist on sites like UK Sport.

#2 Clinical Nutritionists

Another area that is driving demand in the nutrition industry is the healthcare sector, which regularly employs professionals to offer guidance and support to patients.

The British Dietetic Association addressed the growing need for nutritionists, stating that the NHS aims to expand the number of dietetic workers by 14%. This plan was put in place because there are simply not enough current employees to meet this demand.

To develop this plan, the UK government plans to develop targeted recruitment campaigns that aim to attract a diverse and inclusive range of nutritionists who come from different backgrounds and walks of life.

#3 Private Sector and Wellness

Nutritionists are also in demand within the private sector, specifically in businesses and employers looking to support their employees. This is supported by research conducted by Grade View Research who estimated that this particular sector will grow annually by 4.38%.

This role would include offering nutrition counselling to staff to help them improve their diets to improve their overall well-being.
The growth of the nutritionist job market will offer you the chance to find long-term job security as society starts to focus more on health to improve their well-being.

Is The Nutritionist Job Market Expected to Grow With This Demand?

are nutritionists in high demand 5

Between 2023 and 2030, Insights 10 reports that the value of the nutrition industry will grow from $797.4 million (£653.868 million) to $1,003.6 million (£822.952 million). These projections show there will be a demand for nutrition services in the years to come, across the entire industry – not just specific sub-sectors.

These projections capture people’s changing attitudes towards their health and nutrition to improve their quality of life. They want professional guidance to manage or reduce their risks from chronic conditions like diabetes, heart disease, and obesity.
The growing nutritionist job market offers a bright future for people entering the market as they will play a vital role in the future of healthcare.

If you’re enjoying this article, why don’t you give these a read?

What is The Average Salary in The Nutritionist Job Market?

are nutritionists in high demand-1

It’s only natural to question how much you could earn from becoming a nutritionist. For clarity, there is no one definitive answer, as your earnings can be influenced by several factors such as:

  • The amount of experience you have
  • Your locations
  • How you’re employed
  • What sector do you work in

For example, Indeed reports that the average salary of a nutritionist in London is £30,065. This is compared to the same position in Manchester which averages out at £23,981 per year.

There are reasons for such price differences, including:

  • Living costs- It’s normally more expensive to live and use transport in London
  • Talent demand- London is a competitive job market to find skilled workers
  • Skills and experience- Companies in the capital may offer higher salaries to secure specialised talent

How the level of experience can influence salary is reflected by Prospects, who state that an entry-level nutritionist position pays between £22,000 and £28,000 every year. Compare this to roles that require more experience, as the report finds these positions pay an annual salary of £30,000 – £40,000.

If you decide to become a self-employed nutritionist, you’ll be pleased to know that your earning potential is uncapped. This is because you are directly in charge of the prices you set, which can be influenced by:

  • Services you offer
  • Business Location
  • Experience
  • Opening hours
  • Rates you charge

Check out our article “The Salary of a Nutritionist”“for further insight into this topic.

How to Break Into The Nutritionist Job Market

are nutritionists in high demand 2

If you’re looking to successfully break into the nutritionist job market, you first need to decide which sector you would like to work in. There are many areas to choose from, such as sports nutrition and clinical settings.

You then need to decide how you want to work, whether that’s a contracted position with an employer or starting your own business and becoming self-employed.

Earning a Level 4 Nutrition Qualification is a great starting point, as with this qualification you can develop essential skills and knowledge needed to succeed in the industry.

During this course, you will learn how to:

  • Carry out nutritional assessments to learn about your client’s habits
  • Write meal plans that support a client’s fitness goals
  • Tailor your advice for specialist populations – e.g. diabetic client

To learn more about how you can become self-employed read this article on “How to Start a Nutrition Business”.

Alternatively, you could use your Level 4 Nutrition qualification to apply for contract positions. For example, this application for Royal Tunbridge Wells is seeking a Nutrition Advice Specialist:

are nutritionists in demand 11

You could apply for this position leveraging your skills and experience from your Level 4 Nutrition qualification to promote yourself as the ideal candidate.

However, if you’re eyeing clinical nutrition roles to work in hospitals and medical centres, there may be a requirement for you to have additional requirements.

For example, vacancies at the NHS typically require you to hold a degree in nutrition, dietetics or health science to ensure your ability as a nutritionist to comply with medical standards.

To learn more read our article on pursuing nutrition roles that require a degree vs no degree.

How to Stand Out In Competitive Nutritionist Job Market

are nutritionists in high demand 9

To succeed in the nutritionist job market, you must know how to stand out. Below are two key ways you can improve your appeal towards clients and employers::

#1 Combine Services with Personal Training

are nutritionists in high demand 7

If your peers are already offering similar services, you can set yourself apart by combining your nutritionist services with personal training. Be aware that you will need to hold a Level 3 Personal Trainer Diploma to do so.

JM Nutrition already does this by offering personal training and nutrition services, along with Strength and Conditioning training:

are nutritionists in demand 16

By offering training in different fields, JM Nutrition provides clients with a fully rounded service, with bespoke training programmes and meal plans that work to support each other, in pursuit of the client’s unique goals.

Providing additional services can also allow you to charge an increased fee, as you’re offering something of greater value than a standard meal plan.

If you’re looking to find work with an employer, you’ll also need to have relevant experience.
These qualifications demonstrate your capability to work 1-to-1 with clients, offering both Personal Training and Sports Nutrition services.

An example of this demand can be seen in job listings where employers specifically seek nutritionists with personal training skills to create holistic health plans. This is evident from the following example below from Lyfe Health in Bournemouth:

are nutritionists in demand 13

Being able to write nutrition plans and training sessions for clients will make you stand out as a multi-skilled fitness professional and put you in a stronger position to apply for jobs that require someone with nutrition experience.

This can increase your employability but also challenge you as you work each day to meet the wide range of client needs you deal with.

#2 Develop a Specialism

are nutritionists demand 3

Focusing on a specialism can be a great way for you to separate yourself from the pack. You may want to develop a niche service to achieve this such as managing clients who have weight problems or health conditions such as diabetes.

career change at 50-17

FAQs

Is 50 too late for a career change?

career change at 50-9

No, being 50 should never be seen as a barrier to changing careers. You might be surprised that many people at this age are exploring new career paths later in life, with some even working beyond retirement age.

The Transamerica Center of Retirement conducted a survey which found that 55% of workers plan to work past 65. With this in mind, why not consider a career change at 50 and pursue a career that makes you fulfilled regardless of your age?

What are some transferable skills I could utilise?

career change at 50-13

There are many transferable skills you will have acquired over the years. These can be transferred into your next career, such as:

  • Adaptability-your ability to change and willingness to learn new things
  • Communication-sharing information through speech, visuals, non-verbal cues, and text
  • Interpersonal Skills-strategies to effectively communicate with people
  • Leadership Skills-guiding and motivating people to achieve a common goal
  • Problem Solving-handling and resolving unexpected situations
  • Time-Management-effectively managing schedules to complete tasks

Identifying where you’ve showcased these skills will strengthen your application when applying for your next role.

Will I need further education?

Career-Change-at-50-21

This depends on what career you wish to pursue, some will hire you based on experience alone whilst others will have prerequisites in place.
For example, to become a PT you will need to hold a minimum of a Level 3 Personal Training Qualification. Any reputable employer in the UK won’t even consider you without one, so it’s always important to do research into your desired role.

How long does a career change take?

Career change at 50

There is no definitive answer to this question, as a career change at 50 is dependent on personal circumstances and which field you want to move into. Some factors that could influence this time are:

  • Research– Exploring your options can extend the time it takes for your career change to happen
  • Skill Development– Completing a qualification requires time and varies in length depending on the course length
  • Job Hunting– Searching for a job can take time but with the right experience and qualifications, you’re well-positioned to succeed

Whilst it takes some time, the job satisfaction you’ll feel from changing careers will be rewarding when you secure a new role.
